It all started with picking some grapes from the back yard. They are pretty sweet right now, I hear that they will get sweeter after the first frost, but I just couldn't stand waiting any longer. Besides they are dropping and turning into raisins on my back patio.
So I made freezer jelly first 7, 12 oz containers, then later 5 pints. I experimented with regular jelly and no sugar added jelly with a "special" pectin. The regular jelly turned out great. The no sugar added is a little on the soft blob side. I haven't tasted it yet. The next batch I plan to use splenda and see if that turns out any better.
The next day I got a phone call from a ward member who offered us a box of tomatoes. I had already put the bug out to borrow canning supplies and Rebecca thank you for lending me your water bather. It has been put to good use.
So that evening I canned 14 pints of salsa.
Sunday at church another family knew I was gathering interest in canning so they offered me another box of tomatoes. At first I was hesitant, knowing how much time and work it would take to put them to good use. It resulted in 10 quarts of pasta sauce, which I slaved over the stove today.
I have also canned 2 quarts and 5 pints of apple sauce, as well as 2 quarts and 7 pints of apple-pear sauce.
Over all it is 52 jars of home grown goodness!
Thanks to my grandma for donating the majority of the jars and rims. Thanks to my apple trees for producing a delicious sweet apples, despite the little wormies who liked them too. Thank you to the two families at church who so graciously shared their tomatoes. Thanks Rebecca for the water-bather loaner.
Picture soon to follow!

Oh yeah- - - I'm a witness to the goodness. When I dropped in to see Amber's family last night I got to eat dinner with them. Spaghetti sauce, yum, grape jelly... delicious. Thanks for sharing, Amber. And the cute smiles from Daisylyn were a free bonus. Thanks for sharing
