I think my laptop is about to die. I had a brief stress out session tonight as it wouldn't power up. I unplugged it and plugged it back in then it turned back on. I am afraid that if I shut it down, it may never come back to life. I have had to leave it on standby for the past couple of months for the most part. It has been dying a slow death. It has been my dear friend for nearly four years.
It has traveled the ocean blue and visited islands of Central America. I almost dragged it along on my backpacking trip to Europe, but I decided it is to old and dinosaur heavy to lug in my backpack. It traveled down the Oregon Coast more than once and took a few trips to Seattle.
It has been on bike rides, walks, train rides, ferry boats, a large ship and many a road trip. Oh how I hate to say good bye!!
There were the days with my roommates where we all sat out on the couch in the living room with our laptops at we wrote away or search the internet for the latest vacation destination. We teased how nerdy we must look.
It got me through my second bachelors and through four years of teaching. It is the trusty file cabinet of all of my pictures and journal for the past four+ years. I backed it up shortly after Daisylyn's birth but I need to do it again. I don't want to lose all the photos of her first four months.
Oh how I do not want to part with my old friend!! I hope it lasts me many more days!!

Back up everything!!!!!! I lost 2 computers in the last year... losing 1 year of pictures. I cried and cried. Make sure you save everything!!!
I always make a disc of my pictures... I don't trust that they will be on my computer forever. I used to also get "hard copies" of all of my photos too, but have slowed down because I'm not scrapbooking as much as I used to.
