You know you are a new mom if......

On Saturday nights I lay out an outfit for Daisylyn for church so I don't have to think too much for our early church. Brinton and I try to be 20 minutes early for church so we can get the programs there before the masses arrive. This morning Daisylyn woke up especially early around 5am and was restless and didn't really go back to sleep. I tried to sleep longer, but it wasn't restful sleep. I went to church a little on the groggy side.

I enjoyed all of the testimonies in my ward and in Sunday School. Daisylyn was fussy during Relief Society so we spent time in the hall way listening to my old ward's Testimony meeting. As I enjoyed listening to my old acquaintances, Daisy eventually drifted asleep. As people loafed through the hall way I reverently looked down admiring all the trendy shoes out there of today. Colorful heels, red and yellow, high heels up to 4 1/2", gladiator style sandals that have returned from the 80's, flip flops, and one older gentleman had some very interesting shoes on. They were black leather dress shoes on top and had springs for heels. I wanted to stare and see if he would bounce away like Tigger. I had a quick thought about the flip flops I had worn to church, they were especially comfortable and breezy for a hot summer day.

After the three hour block was over I waited in the foyer for Brinton. A gentleman from our old ward asked me from across the crowded corridor, "Did you make your shoe selection on purpose?" I replied back, "yeah." Then lifted both feet to look at my shoes. Then I mumbled, "Oh.... maybe not."

Maybe I should lay out my Sunday clothes too on Saturday night.

Sadly, I've TOTALLY been there. (When pregnant with Taylee.)
I went to an RS stake broadcast with 2 different shoes on and didn't notice until I was at the church. I had car-pooled with a group of women and became the talk of the group. I was offered a ride back to my house (15 minutes away), but declined so I wouldn't have to trouble anyone. I was hoping that it would be dark in the chapel and that no one would be paying attention to my feet. I was fairly sucessful, but totally felt funny about not noticing before leaving my house.
Welcome to motherhood!

Oh Amber...I have so been there. I too went to a church function and came home, only to realize that I had only done half of my eye make-up (one eye). I wonder what some of the other ladies were thinking. Hahahahaha! Just wait until you go shopping...to multiple stores...and come home and have your hubbie pull a squashed fruit snack off your butt! You go girl! Welcome to the "hood"! ;)

good ones, Megan, I cracked up reading them.

Yes, me too. It was the blessing day for Alisha. Ended up with my super sloppy worn out loafers still on my feet. OO-oo-oo, I tucked my feet under the bench, hoping no one would notice

I feel your pain. Nothing quite like lack of sleep to affect your good judgement and shoe selection.

You ladies are making me laugh so hard! So funny. I've never left with mixed up shoes. I have left without a bra on. How long can you keep your arms folded?

Hahah, I loved reading this, Amber, and all of the comments to go with it. I, too have had a new mom moment...I accidentally put lip liner on my eyes instead of eyeliner. Thankfully I noticed before leaving the house. It looked SCARY!
